About the play: Jayanth Kaikini is a renowned Kannada author known for his depiction of struggles of contemporary life. “Olangana” is one such work of his with a gripping story line. The story is set against the backdrop of scenic Ankola in Uttara Kannada District. It portrays the agony and pain of an elderly couple longing for their children, who have emigrated to town. As the story progresses one begins to empathize with the characters while their lives undergo a major turmoil. The thin line between public and personal spaces is blurred when their privacy is invaded.

There is an unstated taboo around a very natural biological process that every women undergo. It illustrates the ups & downs of physical & mental stress they endure and large ignorance among the society about the topic.

This play based on his story – ‘Enemies’ is a comment on individualistic Ego and selfishness present in the society. It demonstrates that unhappiness doesn’t bring people together but draws them apart. Pride subduing humanity is subtlety expressed through out the length of the play.
