    ‘Griha Sangeetha’ A unique concert of songs related to Yakshagana on March 18th

    16.03.2023, Mangaluru: Shyamala Sangeetha Sabha will organize its 5th ‘Griha Sangeetha’ concert at Gokul Residency, Kadri on March 18. A unique concert of songs related to Yakshagana will be presented by renowned Yakshagana Bhagvatha Sri Puttige Raghurama Holla on the occasion. He will be accompanied by Sri Krishnaprakash Ulithaya on the ‘Maddale’. The Shyama Sangeetha Sabha will be presenting the Yakshagana songs for the first time on experimental basis.

    Vidwan Vittala Ramamurty’s violin concert which won the hearts of music rasikas of Mangaluru. His soulful rendition on the violin accompanied by Vishwas Krishna on the violin and Vidwan K. H. Ravikumar on the Mridangam marked the beginning of a series of concerts to follow on every third Saturday of the month. The next vocal concert by Vidwan Madhoor P. Balasubrahmanyam accompanied by Vidwan Venugopal Shanubhog on the violin and Vidwan Avinash Bellare on the Mridangam also won a lot of applause from the rasikas. The third concert by the Sabha was also unique with the flute concert renowned by Vidwan Krishna Pavan Kumar accompanied by Vidwan Venugopala Shanubhog on the violin and Sri Sumukha Karanth on the Mridangam in a joint association with Manikrishna Swamy Academy & the Sabha. The 4th concert focused on the new Krithi’s written on Sri Manjunatha Swami of Sri Kshetra Dhrmasthala. The concert was presented by budding artists Shobhita Bhat and Sumedha K.N., accompanied by Medha Udupa on the flute and Sri Sunaada Krishna Amai on the mridangam.

    The Sabha is a venture taken up by Sri Prabhachandra Mayya and Smt. Sushma P. Mayya to encourage the budding artists in and around Mangaluru and carry forward the tradition of Carnatic Music.  The two hours program is a splendid opportunity for budding local artists to present their music in front of a small audience and then take flight.
