Bangalore : Upasana Books, a publishing house, under the leadership of Asha Raghu, on 4th October 2025 published two upcoming poets from Bangalore, Jatin Sharma and Upasana Raghu and their collections ‘Flight’ and ‘On Duffy’s Wolf’ respectively. The event, taking place at Kerbside Bistro, Sadashiva Nagar was graced by the presence of K Srinath, writer and translator in Kannada and English. He spoke of the poets, likening them to Sylvia Plath and the notion of ‘suffering breeds art.’
In the wake of which, the poets spoke of their process and influences and this was followed by an open mic bringing to light the budding poets around the city. Jatin Sharma’s Flight is an experimental and transgressive collection, exploring themes of substance abuse, artistic integrity and death. Upasana Raghu’s collection is about a young girl’s experience of the world and the society that exploits her. Both the collections are an addition to the rising wave of modern and contemporary poetry among the youth.
